The short version

This page used to say the site carried no advertising tags at all. That stopped being true when MENTARA began advertising on Google, so the page changed — which is the order the last version of it promised things would happen in. It has now changed in the other direction, for the same reason.

This site used to show advertisements. Google AdSense served units inside Insights articles until August 2026, when they were removed — the units, the loader script and the account's code are gone, and nothing on this site sells or displays advertising space today. What remains is one Google tag that reports whether an advertisement of ours led to an enquiry. It shows you nothing.

That tag starts with advertising storage, advertising identifiers and personalisation denied, and stays denied until you accept optional cookies. Everything the site puts in your browser is listed below in full, including the one item that is technically not a cookie at all — which matters, because calling it one would misdescribe how you remove it.

What is stored

Everything this site puts in your browser.

Four items. Two are optional and stay empty until you accept, one is your own choice, and one is not ours to set.

01Your cookie choice — browser storage, not a cookieStored under the name mentara-cookie-consent as a localStorage entry, holding one word: whether you accepted optional measurement or chose essential only. It is not transmitted to us with each request the way a cookie would be, and it stays until you clear it or change your choice.
02Security and bot protection — our network providerThe site sits behind Cloudflare, which may set strictly-necessary cookies to distinguish genuine visitors from automated traffic and to keep the service available. These are set by the network rather than by MENTARA, carry no advertising function, and cannot be declined while still using the site.
03Page-performance measurement — optional, off by defaultIf you accept optional measurement, the site sends the address of the page you were on and standard loading-speed readings, from a sample of visits. This uses no cookie and no identifier. If you did not accept, nothing is sent — the readings are discarded in your browser.
04Google advertising cookies — optional, off by defaultGoogle's tag loads on every page but boots in a denied state, which means no advertising cookie is written and no advertising identifier is read. Accepting optional cookies lifts that, and Google may then set its own cookies to recognise a browser that arrived from one of our advertisements. Withdrawing puts it back — see the control below. While denied, Google still receives a request carrying the page address and no identifier, which it uses to estimate campaign results in aggregate. No advertisement is shown to you on this site either way; this tag measures ours, it does not sell you anyone else's.
Precision

Why this page says “browser storage” rather than “cookie”.

Your preference is kept in localStorage, which is a different mechanism from a cookie in ways that affect you rather than only the engineers. A cookie is attached to every request your browser makes to the site; a localStorage entry is not, and is only read by code running on the page.

It also changes how you get rid of it. Clearing cookies alone will not remove this entry — you need to clear site data or local storage for mentaraglobal.com, or use the control described below, which is easier.

We mention this because a policy that calls everything a cookie is easier to write and leaves you unable to find the thing it describes.

Control

Changing or withdrawing your choice.

Withdrawing acceptance takes effect immediately, on the page you are already on. You do not need to reload, and there is no confirmation step designed to make you reconsider.

    It sits in the site footer on every page. Selecting it clears your stored choice and reopens the original dialog so you can decide again.

    Through your browser's privacy settings, clear site data or local storage for mentaraglobal.com. The next visit will ask you again.

    • Clearing cookies alone does not remove the preference entry
    • Clearing site data removes it and resets the dialog

  3. 03 Or block storage entirely

    If your browser blocks storage — private mode, or a strict privacy setting — the site handles it rather than breaking. You will simply be asked each visit, because there is nowhere to record your answer.

    • The site does not require storage to function
    • No choice is recorded, so measurement stays off
What is not here

Things this site does not do.

There is no session-recording tool, no heatmap tool, no social-media tracking pixel and no chat widget. There is also no advertising inventory: no banner, no sponsored placement and no third party paying to appear beside what we publish. Google's single tag is the only third-party advertising code on the site, and nothing you type into a form is passed to it. Declining does not degrade the site in any way, and there is no reduced-functionality version for people who decline.

We also do not use a consent-management platform that broadcasts your choice to a list of vendor partners. Your choice goes to one place — Google's tag, on this page — and it is not sold, shared or syndicated onward.

If that changes — if we adopt an analytics product, or embed something that sets its own cookies — this page changes first, and the consent dialog changes with it.
